“To begin with, Blake invited me to perform for the initial time at the Grand Ole Opry, and then I figured out he wanted to introduce me,” Tilghman, 44, tells Individuals.

“I found both of those [things] out on the same day. It was crazy.”
It was indeed a blockbuster of a message — one that the Mississippi native says he was unable to wait to tell everyone.
“My significant other [Brooke] was already with me when Blake invited me to come to the [Grand Ole] Opry, so I told her first,” recalls Tilghman, who at age 42 became the most seasoned winner in the history of The Voice.
“It was about a half-hour later and we had ventured out from home when Blake sent another message saying he wanted to introduce me, so I told [Brooke] and the children, and then I made an impression on our family bunch chat.”
On Sept. 10, Tilghman made his Grand Ole Opry debut. “It’s similar to stepping into history and becoming the very tiniest part of it,” says Tilghman.
Only a short time after his Opry debut, Tilghman considered the evening, which he knew would be special from the second he parked his car outside the iconic scene.
“Because it was my introduction, they had a parking sign with my name on it,” says the father of eight kids with spouse Brooke.
“Then, at the night’s end, they gave [the sign] to me. I was unable to accept it was a legitimate metal sign.” He laughs. “I thought it was simply cardboard or something!”
Once inside, Tilghman wound up encompassed by family, companions, and The Voice alums like season 17 winner Jake Hoot and season 21 next in line Wendy Moten.
Making the night much more special was the fact that Tilghman was welcomed once inside by Shelton, yet in addition his better half and pop force to be reckoned with, Gwen Stefani.
“Everyone was simply really gracious to us,” Tilghman remarks. “Blake came up and gave me a colossal bear embrace and said congratulations to me…
He was simply asking me how it felt, and I was thinking, ‘It’s hard to understand what you’re feeling.’ It’s indescribable.”
One thing he knew quite well? It was a night he’d never forget.
“Each time I do anything like this, individuals say I’m not going to recall that anything because it will be a haze,” says Tilghman.
“However, that doesn’t happen. I recollect my blind audition, and I will never forget singing on the Opry stage.” Tilghman celebrated his Grand Ole Opry debut with a two-song set that concluded with his ongoing single “Home Wasn’t Underlying a Day,” which essentially recounts to his incredible story in a nutshell.
“I don’t think we intended for it to be my story, yet it ended up being only that at the day’s end,” remarks Tilghman with a laugh.
“Each expression of that song is valid! We really did live in a one-room apartment over [Brooke’s] grandma’s garage.”
While experiencing high minutes like winning The Voice and performing at the Grand Ole Opry, Tilghman also doesn’t modest from reality — achievement actually doesn’t come easy.
“We’re around here, and I’m not complaining,” he says discreetly.
“I’m invigorated, yet we’re simply kind of around here on our own. It’s simply me and the team. We don’t have a label or anything. We’re simply here fighting it out.”
In any case, Tilghman wants to inspire others by sharing his story.
“I trust that in the event that my life and our family can do anything for other individuals, it can assist them with believing in miracles,” he says.
“I was no one worth mentioning from nowhere. And presently I get to stand at the artist entrance of the Grand Ole Opry. It’s simply wild.”
