However, the debates for best boys tend to be just as crazy. So in order to get an idea of what at least part of the playing field looks like at the moment, let’s go over our some of the best blonde anime guy characters. May their golden locks captivate and amaze.
15. Luck Voltia
Anime: Black Clover I’m not sure whether I can count Luck as a yandere. But he definitely has that “insane and yet somehow appealing” vibe going on. If the expression “itching for a fight” was literal, our boy would have the nasties rash because he’s constantly looking for a reason to throw down. He especially likes picking on Magna. And to be honest, their rivalry/bromance is perhaps the most interesting relationship in the show. Lastly, all of the badass points here. Like when Luck wasn’t to be scary he is truly a zappy ball of terror.
14. Kenji Miyazawa
Anime: Bungou Stray Dogs Country boys really don’t get enough recognition in shounen. So Kenji was a pleasant surprise, to say the least. Plus he’s just such a lovable little goofball. The country boy with a heart of gold talking about the good times he had on the farm. You add onto that description that he’s a miniature Hulk and you get quite the character. Only Kenji doesn’t need to be angry, just hungry, in order to start tearing apart buildings. I swear a “hangry superhero” is the only thing missing now.
13. Ryou Asuka
Anime: Devilman: Crybaby This man’s character progression was a rollercoaster from start to finish. Is he just a scientist, a devoted friend, a nutjob with a firearm? Something even more (wink)? Who really knows. What we do know is that he has a lot of issues understanding compassion, and takes a very logical approach to life. If something is dying, put it out of its misery and don’t shed a tear. But Ryou, you too are crying. Got to love some vague spoilers, right? Or if not, then hey go watch the show it’s great.
12. Shizuo Heiwajima
Anime: Durarara!! In the mystical world of Durarara where literal headless horsemen (or should I say horsewomen) are genius tacticians, and with more gang leaders than you can count, we still somehow have Shizuo. And he’s just a chill yet ironically angry dude who has hurt himself so many times, the mortal just gave up on him. So he just chucks vending machines all over the place and gets all hissy when he gets hit by a truck. Now he still seems like a fun time to hang out with, as long as you don’t mention his brother or make him angry in any other way.
11. Kouhei Imamura
Anime: Grand Blue Is this man a knight in shining armor? Absolutely not. But hey, we have to give love to our people. And Kouhei is definitely as weeb as one can get. Through the magic of alcohol and bro culture, he gets very social. And his battles with Iori are honestly just pure gold. So he might not sweep you off your feet. But he will definitely make you laugh. He also looks like a Titan when he gets angry, just a fair warning.
10. Shirou Ashiya
Anime: The Devil is a Part-Timer! If you’ve ever had to rough it out in a studio apartment with just your buddy and empty pockets, you’ll know how much this man needs to be cherished. He is a stay at home bro who will do all the cooking, cleaning, as well as keep track of your finances. Plus, if you do happen to be Satan, he’ll devote his entire existence to protecting you. I mean, how can you not just love this guy? Whenever he and Sadao start bickering like an old married couple I can feel my dopamine receptors going wild.
9. Kurapika
Anime: Hunter x Hunter (2011) I don’t like describing him like this, but for newcomers, it’s best to just picture Kurapika as a blond Sasuke whose beliefs aren’t as wobbly. He has the badass red eyes, the family genocide background, the serious demeanor, and some sick fighting skills. He can be really kind and a good friend. But I honestly just love what an utter badass he is. The absolute mad lad brought a shovel to a deathmatch. Tell me that doesn’t just ooze cool.
8. Dio Brando
Anime: JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure The fact that you’re reading this article means you have Internet access, and have therefore seen Dio in some way, shape, or form. The living meme of za warldo has coined many iconic phrases. And he’s one of the most beloved antagonists ever. The man just dominates every scene that he’s in. And his voice actor is definitely doing god’s work. Not to mention Dio is incredibly strong, very proud, and petty. But above all, he’s a Chad. And we love him for it.
7. Zenitsu Agatsuma
Anime: Demon Slayer I honestly thought I was going to hate Zenitsu. But boy was I wrong. He’s introduced as this crying coward and he honestly stays consistent with that theme. But his cowardice is just hilarious. Especially when he demands the occasional child bodyguard. Yet even though he’s so cowardly (slight spoiler), when Zenitsu throws down it is an absolute spectacle. And he one-shots everyone in sight. Zenitsu isn’t aware of it, but he is definitely a badass.
6. Arataka Reigen
Anime: Mob Psycho 100 Anime mentors tend to be a bit odd by default. But this man definitely pushed that limit. It’s because, by all means, he should come off as a sleazy conman who just wants to take advantage of Mob. And yet every so often his true nature will shine through and he’ll pass down some real nuggets of wisdom onto Mob. He actually grows throughout the show, and you can see that he’s ironically a very genuine person and as such vital to Mob. Bonus points for being hilarious.
5. Eikichi Onizuka
Anime: Great Teacher Onizuka For centuries, teachers have asked the question “how do I reach these kids?” Onizuka finally delivers. The word “Great” is honestly an understatement for this man. Sure, he can be a bit temperamental and isn’t the ideal guardian figure at first glance. But he has always been there for his students when all the chips were down. He both understands and cares about his students on a fundamental level, and that just makes for the most blissful, “why aren’t you my teacher?” experience.
4. Naruto Uzumaki
Anime: Naruto Yes, I went a little basic with this one. Although a case could be made for Deidara or Minato, I think Naruto is still the boy we all grew up with. Sure he came off as headstrong and bratty at the beginning. But let’s face it, we were probably like that when we were his age. Over time he shows how much he cares for his comrades, even the tailed kind, and pulls off some incredible W’s along the way. His fathering skills could use a little work. But overall he’s a legend in the anime world, and deserves to be mentioned on this list. I mean really: when you think of blonde anime guy characters, Naruto has to pop in your head pretty quickly, right?
3. Meliodas
Anime: Seven Deadly Sins The short king among all short kings, Meliodas. He just has that perfect balance of cheerfulness and anger… as in he can make you smile and feel good when he’s happy and just goofing around, but he will definitely send chills down your spine when he gets angry. And his heart watches his hair color because it is pure gold. I mean, he didn’t even get angry when a friend wanted to kill him for their selfish means. Plus he’s willing to give up everything for his loved ones. You can’t deny that he’s just a stand-up guy in the anime world.
2. Armin Arlert
Anime: Attack on Titan Every good squad needs a combination of brains and brawn. And Armin definitely fits the former. Erwin is also up there when it comes to intelligence, so the blond hair must be connected somehow. We’ve seen Armin come up with some brilliant tactics in their many fights against the titans. And the little man isn’t even afraid to put his own life on the line. If you’ve watched the series then you know what scene I’m referring to, and can likely agree with me that Armin is definitely no coward.
1. Katsuki Bakugou
Anime: Boku no Hero Academia If you’re still hating on my boy Bakugo you really need to get with the program. Sure, season one and two he might have come off as an insufferable prick in need of anger management. But as the story continued we got a better view of his character. This man is just mad passionate. And he’s trying to live up to the ego his childhood instilled in him. So seeing a certain fight and his outburst shortly after really struck a chord with the audience, and every glimmer of humility he shows is worth like ten years of character progression.
