As long as we get that dopamine hit from pouting faces and lingering feelings – we’re good. And one of the most important traits a waifu can have is loyalty. We’re in the true “ride or die” era, so it only makes sense.
15. Nao Tomori
Anime: Charlotte Nao started off as a pretty standard waifu. She and Yuu had decent chemistry and her tsundere nature made her pretty likable from the get-go. However, by the end of the series, she’d become a true GOAT. When Yuu was at the lowest point in his life, Nao dropped everything to make sure he was okay. And I don’t mean just giving him a pep talk or a hug. She literally followed him around for days – initially letting him fight his demons in his own way. But when he was about to make a mistake he couldn’t take back, she jumped in to save him. And if that wasn’t touching enough, we also got that final episode. Not only did she wait for Yuu to come back but she also took care of him from that point onward. No doubt about it – this is loyalty at its peak.
14. C.C.
Anime: Code Geass C.C. is the definition of a “ride or die”. She believed in Lelouch’s cause completely and did everything she could to make his dream a reality. Be it jumping into harm’s way or just being there for Lelouch when he’s at his breaking point – you could always count on C.C. Even when Lelouch decided to march into his own demise – she understood that it was the only way for him to fulfill his goal. So, she went along with it – regardless of how much pain that caused her. C.C. never failed to be there for Lelouch – and I think that says a lot about her character.
13. Celty Sturluson
Anime: Durarara!! Conflict resolution is always a bit deal when it comes to character writing. And I have to say that Celty and Shinra truly shine in this department. Although they’re madly in love – they’re also human. So, they sometimes do things that hurt the one they love. But it still never breaks their trust. Even when Shinra pulled an incredibly selfish move – Celty heard him out and managed to understand where he was coming from. She managed to not only forgive, but even strengthen their relationship. So, as the old saying goes, “if you can’t handle me at my worst, you don’t deserve my best”. Needless to say, these two deserved all the good that came their way.
12. Elizabeth Liones
Anime: The Seven Deadly Sins This one is kind of cheating as Elizabeth didn’t have any say in the matter. Seeing how both she and Meliodas were cursed – she was destined to find Meliodas over and over again. So for thousands of years, she came to Meliodas, fell in love, and then broke his achy breaky heart. But I doubt things would’ve turned out any different even without the curse. We’re talking about a couple that is prepared to suffer for a thousand years in literal hell just so that they can be together. So, I’m pretty sure that Elizabeth wouldn’t have left Meliodas’ side regardless of what happened.
11. Rem
Anime: Re:ZERO Although Rem and Subaru started off on the wrong foot (a chopped-off one), they quickly became quite the duo. And Rem’s dedication to Subaru is just on a whole different level. Once she let her guard down – she was ready to love Subaru with everything that she had. She constantly jumped into harm’s way just to protect him and generally kept his best interest in mind. Even when he shot her down in order to be with Emilia, she still stuck by his side. She obviously only wants Subaru to be happy, even if that means forfeiting her own happiness. Is it a bit cruel to keep her around like that? Yes. But you definitely can’t say that she was lacking conviction!
10. Tohru
Anime: Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid It took Tohru roughly five minutes to decide that she’d devote her entire life to Kobayashi. And she certainly never went back on her word. She learned all that she could about the human world just so that she could be helpful. Be it grocery shopping or cooking – Tohru was on it! And even when other dragons started rolling in – Tohru never wished to return home, instead spending all her time with Kobayashi. Sure, her extreme loyalty was off-putting to Kobayashi at first – but she quickly learned to appreciate her dragon maid. And it’s all sunshine and rainbows from that point forward.
9. Ai Hayasaka
Anime: Kaguya-sama: Love is War I don’t know what the Shinomiya family is paying Ai, but she needs a raise. My girl is out here putting every other maid/butler to absolute shame! She doesn’t feel the need to kiss up to her employer. But it’s incredibly obvious how much she cares. The lengths she has gone to in order to make Kaguya happy are just insane. Be it undercover work or orchestrating entire prison breaks – Ai is always there to help you out. And even though she sometimes gets fed up with Kaguya and her ridiculous pride, she never gives up on her. Honestly, it should be everyone’s goal in life to have a friend as dedicated as Ai. And to also be that friend for someone else. Ai is the perfect human is what I’m saying.
8. Hestia
Anime: Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Statistically, there’s a better chance of the Sun exploding than there is of Hestia leaving Bell behind. Because man, she loves this dude to death. Just like the other characters on this list – you can clearly see that Hestia values Bell’s happiness over everything else. Even when it means going through pain herself, she’s always there to help him out. And when their lives aren’t in danger, you can see just how close these two are. Having started out as a humble duo, Hestia and Bell rely on each other constantly. This then leads to some of the most adorable scenes you’ve ever seen. I just really love seeing these two together!
7. Mako Mankanshoku
Anime: Kill la Kill Having a loyal SO is all well and good, but you also need real friends in your life. And Mako is probably the best type of friend that you can have. Aside from that one time capitalism got to her head. She had only known Ryuko for a hot minute and she was already prepared to make her a part of her family. And it’s not like she lives in a mansion where she has room to spare. She’s just that good of a person. This attitude would basically define their friendship for the rest of the series. Mako never judged Ryuko for how she behaved, and she continuously ran into danger just so that she can help out. In all regards, Mako was basically the perfect friend. And seeing her tough it out with Ryuko and continue their friendship even after the battle was over – brings a tear to my eye every time.
6. Raphtalia
Anime: The Rising of the Shield Hero Let’s just get it out of the way – this one’s a bit weird. After all, Raphtalia was a slave that Naofumi bought. But the show doesn’t really dwell on that part for too long. And once you stop thinking about the morals involved – Raphtalia just comes out as the ultimate waifu. She’s always right by Naofumi’s side and would do anything to help him. Is Naofumi literally on fire? That still won’t stop Raphtalia from hugging him and calming him down. Is the entire world against Naofumi? Raphtalia just sharpens her blade. No matter how you slice it – Raphtalia is all in when it comes to Naofumi. And if that isn’t indicative of loyalty, I don’t know what is.
5. Mikasa Ackerman
Anime: Attack on Titan Mikasa feels like Eren’s shadow with how much time she spends by his side. She tends to always be at arm’s length, ready to murder anyone who might try to harm Eren. Even when Eren basically turns into the world’s number one supervillain, Mikasa still wants to be by his side. And considering how he told her off hours before going on his rampage – that’s quite impressive. The final season of the show hasn’t aired yet (as of this writing) but let’s be honest; we all know that Mikasa is going to stick by Eren no matter what happens. Is it because of her heritage? I’ve no idea. But I’m willing to bet that it goes a lot deeper than just some primal instinct.
4. Yuno Gasai
Anime: Mirai Nikki If we’re strictly talking about loyalty – you have to admit that Yuno is pretty high up there. Sure, she’s also insane and would probably kill your mother out of jealousy – but she’s definitely not going to leave your side. Even if you beg her to leave, she’ll stay with you. That one doesn’t really sound like a positive but once again, it showcases her loyalty. And if we take the ending into account – she basically showcased the longest commitment one can make; spending eternity together. Overall, her methods are rather worrying and disturbing. But in her own way, she does want the best for Yuki and would literally die for him. So, brownie points, I guess.
3. Miria Harvent
Anime: Baccano! Miria and Isaac are simply the best anime couple to have ever lived. So any waifu tier list is bound to feature Miria at some point. The two of them just have a perfect relationship in which they completely trust each other. Being partners in crime, you can clearly see that they’d lay down their lives if it meant protecting their SO. And as long as they’re together, life is good. Even if they’re working in the mines, they’ll find a way to enjoy themselves. That should really tell you something about how strong their love is. Needless to say, I can’t imagine a world where Miria would leave Isaac for even a second.
2. Zero Two
Anime: Darling in the FranXX Zero Two has the same loyalty feats as Yuno but with a lot less psychopathy involved. She just woke up, chose Hiro as her man, and then proceeded to spend all of her time with him. It didn’t matter who they were facing or what other characters (like Ichigo) were saying, Zero Two was in it for the long haul. And given how the series ended, I’d say that she put her money where her mouth is. Spending the rest of her life with Hiro as they flew through space and fought off the enemy – she literally accomplished “ride” and “die” in a single move. Overall, just an iconic waifu whose determination never faltered, as she stayed by her loved one through thick and thin.
1. Kurisu Makise
Anime: Steins;Gate Although Kurisu doesn’t have out-of-this-world feats, I still think that she’s the most loyal waifu around. With the series being a bit more grounded, she couldn’t exactly fly through space with Okabe after all. However, that isn’t to say that she didn’t give it her all to help Okabe each step of the way. Even when the literal timeline tried to keep Kurisu and the mad scientist apart, she found a way back to him. And that level of dedication basically stayed true throughout the entire series. She remained an incredibly kind and thoughtful person who always did everything in her power to protect the ones she loved. So she’s my pick for the most loyal waifu across all of anime. If you disagree with my number one spot, I advise you to go and watch the movies again. Bet you feel silly now.
