Minecraft isn’t just a game: it’s an experience that every gamer should try at least once. While the game continues to receive excellent support, with tons of new content released every month, there are ways to expand Minecraft with mods. And you probably already know mods are damn popular. Technology mods, in this case, are the best way to take things to a new level. They add machines that help you automate the production of in-game materials. And if you’re a diehard Minecraft fan, you know how tedious the process can be. So let grinding become a thing of the past, and let something else do the hard work so you can focus on the fun part: creating.
20. Minefactory Reloaded
Check Out This Mod Automatism at its finest. That’s what Minefactory Reloaded offers. 19. Refined Storage
Check Out This Mod Storage problems? They’re going to be an issue of the past, I assure you. Refined Storage offers a network-based storage system that lets you store anything in new facilities, and access those items from other facilities elsewhere. Better yet, you can also set up auto-crafting devices to put an end to the grind once and for all. Extremely simple, yet extremely effective!
18. Red Power 2
Check Out This Mod Redstone is the source of all power in Minecraft. It makes the impossible possible. And those who harness its full power will dominate the world. Red Power 2 is your ticket to world domination, as it expands and improves the functionality of Redstone. And it allows for more complex circuit designs which will power multiple machines that will make your life much easier. Why add more technology to Minecraft when you already have all you need?
17. Applied Energistics
Check Out This Mod Applied Energetics would be a rather basic technology mod, if it wasn’t for a couple new elements that make your world look seriously brand-spakin’ new. Alongside all the tech mods basics like a new storage system and a lot of automation tools, Applied Energists brings a lot of new decorative blocks. As well as the ability to hide cables with Cable Facades. I hate cable management, both real and virtual. So something like this is a godsend from the Minecraft gods.
16. Solar Flux Reborn
Check Out This Mod Praise the Sun! Sorry, wrong game. Even though we’re not playing Dark Souls, you’ll still praise the sun a lot with Solar Flux Reborn. It introduces solar panels that produce energy, basically. This mod is also fully compatible with many other tech mods, so you can go truly wild and create the power plant you’ve always dreamt about, but never dared build.
15. Extreme Reactors
Check Out This Mod Generating power has never been as easier with an Extreme Reactor do all the heavy lifting. In case the name isn’t super clear, Extreme Reactors introduces some useful multiblock machines that produce power. You can even get very creative with them, and come up with a Giant Reactor that can produce power using multiple resources. Now that’s handy!
14. Thermal Dynamics
Check Out This Mod Time to get dynamic, folks! Thermal Dynamics will not leave you in awe with its complex machines and new forms of power. But it will leave you pleased with its handiness, as it brings blocks for transporting pretty much everything from items to players. Better yet, the mod comes with a nice sense of progression that’ll let you expand your transportation network the more time you invest in it. Nice, eh?
13. Thermal Expansion
Check Out This Mod Need some base automation for your daily Minecraft sessions? Thermal Expansion isn’t a particularly exciting mod, compared to a few others, at least. But it is extremely handy since it adds blocks for automating various tasks like generating Redstone Flux, storing items, and so on. The best thing about Thermal Expansion is that it isn’t particularly complex. So you can start enjoying its benefits without having to spend hours upon hours reading tutorials and watching videos.
12. Industrial Craft 2
Check Out This Mod If you think Minecraft is a complex game, then you’ll probably be overwhelmed by Industrial Craft 2. Industrial Crafts 2 brings some real life-engineering concepts into the world of Minecraft, introducing a lot of new machines, as well as nuclear reactor components. You know, if you feel ready to literally play with fire. Its complexity requires quite a bit of effort on your part. But once you get things going, you’ll be able to craft that shiny Electric Jetpack that’ll let you explore the Nether with so much ease, that you’ll never want to get back to Vanilla Minecraft.
11. PneumaticCraft: Repressurized
Check Out This Mod Do you have a moment to talk about the wonders of compressed air? Sure you do! Pneumatic Craft: Repressurized introduces its own unique power system, based on compressed air. This leads to the creation of a lot of different machines that require not only various amounts of air, but also specific air pressures to function properly. Add in some more complex mechanics and you’ve got your work cut out for you. But the rewards will be amazing.
10. Traincraft
Check Out This Mod There is no getting off the Minecraft train! Traincraft brings your childhood dreams to life by introducing more than 80 trains as well as switches and curves, all into Minecraft for regular use. It’ll let you create a full-on transportation network, basically. Sorry, did you say driving a train was never your dream? Well it’s still fun, darnit!
9. Electrical Age
Check Out This Mod To properly use the Electrical Age mod, you need to have a proper understanding of how electrical power works in the real world. Or just wing it, who cares it’s Minecraft right? Electrical Age introduces a complex yet real electrical simulation model that does open some massive crafting possibilities. This gives you the ability to create anything from simple lamps to electrical furnaces and transporters. It’s not totally a must-have, but if you’re bored of vanilla this will add plenty to keep you busy.
8. Immersive Engineering
Check Out This Mod Immersive Engineering immerses players into a retro-futuristic world where machines don’t just magically spit out resources. This mod is all about machines steeped in realism. Instead of blocks that spit out dust, you get a machine with rotating wheels. Instead of glowing red tubes, you get powerlines. Instead of magic, you get grounded technology that makes Minecraft feel more like a simulation. If only the real world was made of blocks!
7. ComputerCraft
Check Out This Mod Ever tried to learn a programming language? What about a crash-course in Lua? ComputerCraft is an extremely crafty tech mod that adds Computers, Monitors, Modems, and advanced robots to the Minecraft experience. They’re all programmed with the Lua programming language. So you’ll need at least some basic knowledge to get things going, or you’ll have to be willing to learn! An effort that’s well worth it to use a fully-functional computer inside a computer game. Not to mention if you’re interested in a career in programming… I mean hey, why not start learning with Minecraft?
6. Tech Guns
Check Out This Mod I don’t know about you, but wielding the Diamond Sword gets old after a while. If only we had guns… Enter Tech Guns, the Minecraft mod for those who want to be brutally efficient when it comes to killing enemies. It grants you access to a selection of different guns. Basic, yeah? It also adds a new armor bonus system and new machines that can craft all the new items, too. Tech Guns is more of an overhaul than a tech mod. But hey, that’s even better.
5. Botania
Check Out This Mod Enough with the grey, boring real-world inspired technology. It’s time we turn to the magic of Mother Nature. With Botania, you won’t be creating complex machines. Or transportation networks using real-world locomotives. You’ll harness the power of Mana to create devices that would not be possible IRL. The best thing about Botania is that it’s fully compatible with other technology mods, so you can go crazy with your creativity and make your green energy utopia a reality.
4. Mekanism
Check Out This Mod If you’re in dire need of efficiency, Mekanism is your mod, hands down. Mekanism is more of a complete overhaul of the Minecraft experience. It introduces some high-tech machinery that makes your material production incredibly efficient. Stuff like the Fusion Reactor, an advanced machine configuration system for the creation of transportation networks. And hydrogen-powered Jetpacks for your leisure-time. Very cool. I’d say the jetpacks are a big draw here. All work and no play makes Steve a dull boy.
3. NuclearCraft
Check Out This Mod When you feel the need for power, you have no choice but to turn nuclear. NuclearCraft focuses on using nuclear power to provide energy. The system is so complex that it allows you to generate power in three different ways, which pretty much works like real nuclear plants. Imagine the virtual thrill of splitting atoms and fusing them together without being a nuclear engineer. And without any risk of blowing up half of your town in the process!

GregTech isn’t just a tech mod. It’s a complete overhaul of the Minecraft experience. It not only adds more machines and materials, which allow you to create some really complex contraptions worthy of an engineering degree… but it also tweaks Recipes for existing items so they properly fit the new system. This shows an amount of care that’s unprecedented in the realm of Minecraft mods. I’d argue this one is absolutely worth a try.
