For as downright broken as that sounds, this card’s usefulness depends on what decks are hot at any given time. But if you have an idea of what you’ll be going up against and want an awesome way to disrupt your opponent, I’ll be going through some of the best Super Polymerization targets in this list!
20. Quintet Magician
Let’s start with something powerful but hard to Summon. If you manage to pull this off against a Spellcaster deck, though, there’s almost no coming back from it (for your opponent, anyway). Quintet Magician requires 5 Spellcasters to Fusion Summon, it has a ridiculous 4500 ATK/4500 DEF, and if those Spellcasters had different names then you can also destroy every single card your opponent controls. This is also one of the rare cards that cannot be Tributed. So your opponent can’t even fight back with a Kaiju! This card starts our list off because as powerful as it is, it’s unlikely you’ll have the opportunity to use it.
19. Diplexer Chimera
Cyberse monsters are popular, and oftentimes very dangerous. If you need some targeted removal for Cyberse, this is a solid target for Super Polymerization. Diplexer Chimera requires 2 Cyberse monsters to Fusion Summon, and has 2000 ATK/800 DEF. You can tribute a Cyberse monster to shut down Spell/Traps in the battle phase – which is handy. But unless you’re running a Cyberse deck yourself, this card’s effects are a little limited. It’s still fantastic for disrupting your opponent and removing 2 of their monsters.
18. Prank-Kids Weather Washer
Prank-Kids have been making a splash in competitive Yu-Gi-Oh! lately. For as cute as their artwork is, they’re a real pain to deal with. If you’re up against Prank-Kids and you want to soak up their monsters, this is the card you need. Prank-Kids Weather Washer requires 2 Prank-Kids to Fusion Summon, plus it comes in at a modest 2000 ATK/0 DEF And if it attacks, your opponent can’t activate effects in response. You won’t have much use for this card’s Tribute effect if you don’t use Prank-Kids yourself. But being able to remove 2 of your opponent’s monsters to setup a counter-attack is why this card makes the list.
17. Panzer Dragon
At the time of this writing, Dragon Link is tearing up competitive Yu-Gi-Oh! And it’s a powerful, versatile strategy. Fortunately, there’s a couple of cards that are good Super Polymerization targets against it. Panzer Dragon requires 1 Machine and 1 Dragon to Fusion Summon, and has 1000 ATK/2600 DEF. These stats pale in comparison to many other cards on this list. But being able to take a monster or 2 from your opponent offers disruption. And you can also target and destroy a card on the field when this monster is destroyed, just for some added value.
16. Vision HERO Adoration
Heroes have been a fan favorite since day one, and they enjoy popularity that few other decks ever will. If you want to play the villain, then stick this card in your Extra Deck! Vision HERO Adoration requires 2 HERO monsters and has a solid 2800 ATK/2100 DEF. Sadly, this monster’s effect won’t be much use unless you also use a HERO deck. But deleting 2 of your opponent’s monsters in exchange for a Boss Monster is sometimes all it takes.
15. World Chalice Guardragon Armaduke
It can be a little scary watching your opponent fill their board with Link monsters. Fortunately for you, we made this list. And now you know the perfect counter-attack. World Chalice Guardragon Armaduke requires 3 Link monsters to Fusion Summon. So even just summoning this will be a huge problem for your opponent. And this monster is no slouch in battle with 3000 ATK/2600 DEF, plus it can attack all of your opponent’s monsters once each. If you know you’ll be facing a Link-heavy deck, this card is devastating.
14. First of the Dragons
If you’re going up against decks that like to use Normal monsters (or even tokens) you can use this Super Poly target as a powerful response. First of the Dragons requires 2 Normal monsters as material (many tokens are also ‘Normal’), and it has nice stats at 2700 ATK/2000 DEF. This monster also can’t be destroyed by battle unless it’s against a Normal monster. If all that wasn’t enough for you, First of the Dragons is also unaffected by other monster effects. So unless your opponent has some Spells/Traps to fall back on, this card is going nowhere!
13. Dragonecro Nethersoul Dragon
The Undead getting you down, Duelist? Well if you’ve got a Zombie problem (Eldlich for example) this is a powerful response to that type of deck! Dragonecro Nethersoul Dragon requires 2 Zombie monsters, and has stats of 3000 ATK/0 DEF. Oddly enough, this monster also can’t destroy monsters in battle… but it can hit incredibly hard. And in doing so, it reduces your opponent’s monster’s ATK to 0. You can follow this up by Special Summoning a ‘Dark Soul Token’ that has the same stats as the monster you just attacked. Nothing is more satisfying than using your opponent’s monsters against them!
12. Earth Golem @Ignister
If there’s a chance you’ll be going up against a Cyberse deck, this monster is a rock-solid choice. Earth Golem @Ignister requires 1 Cyberse and 1 Link monster, has 2300ATK/2000DEF, and on the turn you summon it, you take no damage. This monster is incredibly dangerous in the battle phase, too. If it battles an Extra Deck monster it gains ATK, so it can run over some of the scariest monsters in the game. You can also Special Summon a Cyberse monster from your Graveyard if it’s destroyed by battle. For all this strength, currently, the most popular Cyberse deck is Salamangreat. And if you’re going against that, you’ll want the next card on this list instead…
11. Salamangreat Violet Chimera
Salamangreat has been a fan favorite for a while now. And if there’s a chance your opponent plays Salamangreat, or even if you do yourself, it doesn’t get much better than this. Salamangreat Violet Chimera only requires a Salamangreat monster and a Link monster to Fusion summon, and has a respectable 2800 ATK/2000 DEF. On the turn that it’s summoned, it also gains ATK based on what was used to summon it. So this monster can hit incredibly hard right from turn one! You can also double Violet Chimera’s ATK if it battles something that has had its original ATK changed. Some Salamangreats also have unique effects if they’re used as material for another copy of themselves (they have a field spell that helps with that), and Violet Chimera’s effect makes any monster it battles have an ATK of 0!
10. Eldlich The Mad Golden Lord
Some of the best counter-strategies end up being cards from their own archetype (I see you Cyber Dragons!) This statement holds especially true against Eldlich decks. Eldlich The Mad Golden Lord requires 1 Eldlich and a LVL5 or higher Zombie to Fusion Summon, and has a colossal 3800 ATK/3500 DEF. These stats are incredible. And to top it off, this Monster can’t be destroyed by battle or card effects. But this card’s other effects won’t come up really, unless you’re also using Zombies. But even without them, 3800 ATK should be enough!
9. Coordius the Triphasic Dealmon
This monster demands up to 6000 of your Life Points to use its effects… But sometimes you have to give Life Points to take Life Points! Coordius the Triphasic Dealmon requires 1 Synchro, 1 Link, and 1 XYZ monster to Fusion Summon – and it comes with 3000 ATK/3000 DEF. Those stats are scary enough on their own. But you can also pay 2000LP to activate each of its effects. These effects let you: destroy your opponent’s cards, bring Spell/Trap cards back from the Graveyard, and can give enough extra ATK to destroy anything. This is a risky card to use. But it’s so powerful that it absolutely deserves a place on this list.
8. Invoked Elysium
Invoked cards are incredibly popular, as they work with so many decks. This one makes the list because it’s incredibly strong. And as long as you have an Invoked monster, any Extra Deck monster becomes a Super Poly Target. Invoked Elysium is a powerhouse with 3200 ATK/4000 DEF, and can simply crush most monsters in the game. Its quick effect is even worse to deal with, as you can Banish an Invoked monster to Banish one of your opponent’s monsters of the same Attribute. Invoked Elysium is multiple Attributes too. So if it Banishes itself, it can take almost anything you want along with it.
7. El Shadoll Construct
To get any value from this card, either you or your opponent will need to be playing Shaddolls. But oh boy, this is one dangerous monster – and has even been banned in the past. El Shadoll Construct has 2800 ATK/2500 DEF. But those numbers don’t really mean anything, because when this monster battles a Special Summoned monster, it destroys it instantly. It’s that simple. In battle, this card cannot be beaten, and unless your opponent has some disruption up their sleeves El Shadoll Construct is unstoppable.
6. El Shaddoll Winda
Sometimes the best way to beat your opponent is by stopping them from playing altogether. If that sounds like fun, look no further than El Shaddoll Winda. This card requires either you or your opponent to be using Shaddolls, though, as it requires one of them and 1 DARK Monster to Special Summon. This monster has 2200 ATK/800 DEF base stats, but the best thing about it is how it limits both players to 1 Special Summon per turn. There are so many decks that rely on combos to get to their win conditions. And if you get this out early, you give your opponent one single Special Summon to fight back.
5. Starving Venom Fusion Dragon
Stealing your opponent’s monsters is always fun. But if you can’t do that, stealing their effects is almost as good. Starving Venom Fusion Dragon requires 2 DARK monsters to Fusion Summon, and has 2800 ATK/2000 DEF. And when this monster is Summoned, it can gain ATK equal to an opponent’s Special Summoned Monster until the end of the turn. Plus this dragon can also copy another monster’s name and effects – which can give you some fun options in a duel. And if that doesn’t work, when this card is destroyed, you can destroy every Special Summoned monster your opponent controls!
4. Predaplant Triphyoverutum
I think this monster is as fun to deal with as its name is to pronounce. Requiring 3 DARK monsters, Predaplant Triphyoverutum has 3000 ATK/3000 DEF – and honestly, Tributing 3 of your opponent’s monsters can be enough to win a duel on its own. This card has a few effects, but it’s unlikely you’ll be using the Predator Counter ones. You can still use the Quick Effect though, which lets you negate a Special Summon from the Extra Deck once per turn. This is a brutal effect, too. Because if you just took 3 monsters with Super Polymerization, the Extra Deck may be the only place your opponent can go to recover.
3. Predaplant Dragostapelia
There are a ton of DARK monsters that see competitive play in Yu-Gi-Oh! If you want to use that to your advantage and bring out a card that ruins multiple strategies, this is a great way to do it. Predaplant Dragostapelia is a nasty monster with 2700 ATK/1900 DEF. And this card has a Quick Effect which lets you place a ‘Predator Counter’ on one of your opponent’s monsters, and that Counter makes the monster LVL1 – so it royally messes up XYZ and Synchro summons. It also negates that monster’s activated effects. If left unchecked, Dragostapelia can turn your opponent’s monsters into bricks. Let’s hope they were relying on those.
2. Borreload Furious Dragon
If you know you’re going up against Dragon Link and only have space for one Super Poly target, this is what you bring with you. Borreload Furious Dragon requires 2 DARK Dragons to Fusion Summon, and it comes in at a colossal 3000 ATK/2500 DEF. This should be able to trample over most other monsters in battle, but the best part about this card is its Quick Effect. It lets you destroy one monster you control, along with one of your opponent’s monsters. You can even use this quick effect every turn if you’ve got the monsters to spare, making sure you keep your opponent on their back foot until you win.
1. Mudragon Of The Swamp
This card is great because it can be used against so many decks. And once it’s on the field, it’s tough to get rid of. To fusion summon Mudragon Of The Swamp you’ll need 2 monsters with the same Attributes, but different Types. Which means you can bring this out against a lot of decks. This monster comes with 1900 ATK/1600 DEF and your opponent can’t target monsters on the field with the same Attribute as this one… Which you can also change to whatever you want with a Quick Effect. So rather than give you huge ATK/DEF, this card slows your opponent down. And sometimes that’s far more valuable. A lot of the time you won’t know what you’re going up against in a duel. But this is the card you bring if you want to cover all your bases – and that’s why it stands above the rest on this list.
